Hospice of Michigan to Host Celebration of Life and Love Dinner

Dinner Honors HOM Supporters with Crystal Rose Award

Grand Rapids, Michigan, July 20, 2015 Hospice of Michigan will host its semiannual Celebration of Life and Love dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 9 in Grand Rapids.

The event will honor community partners, corporate leaders and outstanding individuals who have been a vital part of the success of Hospice of Michigan’s vision and mission. This year’s honorees include:

  • Outstanding Community Partner: Grand Rapids Ballet, for its collaboration on the re-imagined “Nutcracker” that made its world premiere in Grand Rapids in 2014
  • Outstanding Volunteers: Judy and Jim Czanko
  • Outstanding Corporate Partner: Hansen/Balk Steel Treating, a Grand Rapids heat-treating facility
  • Outstanding Individuals: Early pioneers of Hospice of Greater Grand Rapids, the predecessor agency to Hospice of Michigan

“Each year, we shine a spotlight on the people, organizations and companies that go above and beyond in helping us achieve our mission,” said Marcie Hillary, vice president of resource development and executive director of Hospice of Michigan-West Michigan. “This year, we are so pleased to honor the Ballet, Judy and Jim Czanko, Hansen/Balk and the early pioneers of Hospice of Greater Grand Rapids for the significant contributions they make to us throughout the year.”

A Crystal Rose Award will be presented to each honoree. The image of the rose honors HOM’s roots as a volunteer-based organization and an early practice of placing a single long-stemmed red rose on the bed of a patient after death in memory of his or her life.

Now in its 20th year, the event will take place 6 to 9 p.m. at Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, 187 Monroe Ave. NW in the Ambassador Ballroom.

Tickets are $100 and may be purchased online at hom.convio.net/cll15 or by contacting Barbara Anderson at 616.356.5266 or banderso@hom.org. Proceeds from the dinner will support HOM’s ongoing nonprofit mission to provide comfort and care to all those in need of its services regardless of diagnosis or ability to pay.
