Hospice of Michigan Offers Variety of Grief Support Groups This Fall

Detroit, September 18, 2014 – Hospice of Michigan will offer a variety of free support groups in Southeast Michigan this fall focused on dealing with grief.

Each of the groups will provide a safe and supportive environment for participants to express their feelings and better understand the grief process as they deal with the death of a friend or family member.

Support groups include:

  • Living On, this ongoing group is held on the first and third Thursday of the each month at HOM’s Detroit office, 400 Mack , from 1-2:30 p.m. and also on the second Tuesday of each month at Oakwood Hospital, 33155 Annapolis, in Wayne from 2-3:30 p.m.
  • Caregivers Support, this ongoing group is held on the second Tuesday of each month at HOM’s Southfield office, 26957 Northwestern Hwy, Suite 140, from 1-2:30 m.
  • Grief Support, this ongoing group is held on the third Tuesday of each month at Eton Senior center, 4900 Pardee, in Dearborn Heights from 1-2:30 m.
  • Healing Hearts, Loss of Spouse, held on Wednesday, 1 at Northville Community Center, 303 W. Main St., from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Participants will hear an encouraging story of love and survival from Ron Gries, author of Through Death to Life, as he shares his thoughts about the loss of his wife.
  • Journey Through Grief, this five week series offering insights and coping skills for an adult’s journey through grief, will be held on Thursdays beginning 2 and ending Oct. 30 at HOM’s Detroit office, 400 Mack Ave., from 6-7:30 p.m.

Hospice of Michigan also offers workshops and group presentations to schools, churches, businesses and communities dealing with a loss, to help them understand the grieving process.
