Hospice of Michigan and Arbor Hospice Seeking Licensed Cosmetology Volunteers

Volunteers to provide haircuts for hospice patients across southeast Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich., (July 14, 2021)Hospice of Michigan and Arbor Hospice, members of the NorthStar Care Community, are seeking licensed cosmetology volunteers to provide haircuts for hospice patients across southeast Michigan.

The not-for-profits have a specific need for volunteers in Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, Livingston, Lenawee, St. Clair and Washtenaw counties who can make a difference in the lives of others by visiting patients’ homes to offer their professional services.

Volunteers must have an up-to-date cosmetology license to be considered. All volunteers are required to complete orientation, background checks and fingerprinting.

“Giving haircuts to hospice patients is such a special way to give back,” said Alana Knoppow, Hospice of Michigan and Arbor Hospice volunteer program manager. “This is the perfect volunteer opportunity for retired cosmetologists who keep their licenses up, or for any licensed professional, to use their skill to make hospice patients feel good about themselves and restore their dignity.”

Hospice of Michigan and Arbor Hospice volunteers are vital in helping to deliver exceptional, compassionate support to patients and families according to its mission of caring for patients wherever they call home, right in the same community in which its volunteers live.

Those interested in volunteering can contact Alana Knoppow at 248-303-6818 or aknoppow@hom.org. To learn more about volunteer opportunities with Hospice of Michigan and Arbor Hospice, visit hom.org or arborhospice.org.
